Community Care Center of Lemay is Hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing/RN Near St. Louis, MO

Department: Nursing Services

Job Title: A.D.O.N.

Main Function: To plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the facility nursing services.

Reports To: Director of Nursing

Education: Graduate of a state-approved school of nursing with a temporary permit, or a license and

Current registration to practice in the state.

Experience: At least two years as a staff nurse with demonstrated professional competence, leadership,

and management skills. Gerontology experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with ensuring the maintenance of all nursing records in compliance with standards.
  • Assists with evaluation of care, and makes corrective action as necessary to ensure quality care occurs.
  • Participates in the nursing service Quality Assurance Program, trends resident care.

Processes outcomes, and implements Quality Assurance activities on the unit.

  • Reports infections, and supervises infection control policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in budget planning and cost control measures.
  • Assists with ensuring awareness of responsibilities of other staff and evaluates personnel job performance.
  • Assists DON to ensure adequate coverage of staff to ensure resident needs are met, monitors time usage and performance abilities, and administers disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Helps coordination of staff education to identify staff/resident needs and develop educational programs; supports and supplements the education of staff and orientation of residents, families, staff, and students.
  • Along with DON ensures the delivery of comprehensive nursing services on a 24 hour basis to meet defined resident population needs in conformance with government regulations and the philosophy of the home.
  • Audits the assessment of health needs (MDS) and (CAAS) and the maintenance of a current written individualized nursing care plan that is coordinated with the interdisciplinary plan of care are completed by the MDS Nurse.
  • Interfaces with other departments and services to facilitate the delivery of resident care, and ensures the participation of nursing in comprehensive care reviews with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Performs audits of Nurses & CMTs to ensure the safety and completeness in medication and treatment administration.
  • Shares on call with DON as needed & assists in providing coverage when necessary.
  • Works every other weekend to provide RN coverage.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • All other duties as requested.

Contacts: Residents, families, physicians, other personnel and visitors.

Physical Demands: sits, stands, and walks most of the day. Occasional lifting and moving of residents. Requires good oral and visual acuity and manual dexterity. Moderate to heavy lifting.

Working Conditions: Well lighted and well ventilated areas.

Hazards: May be exposed to infections, odors, and psychobehavioral management situations.

Variables: is required to work certain weekends, holidays or different shifts when indicated. May be required to manage emergencies.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an R.N., L.P.N., in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must have patience, tact, and cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practice.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift.

May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
