Community Health Services (CHS) is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team in Fremont. This is a great opportunity to work with an outstanding staff of professionals in a truly exceptional work environment. In this role, the Dental Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist and maintaining positive and professional relationships with our patients and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times
  • Prepares operatories on time to prepare for start of day and start of afternoon
  • Prepares instruments and materials for dental procedures
  • Prepares for forthcoming procedures and sets up accordingly
  • Completes dental record to include medical and dental history according to policy
  • Coordinates oral hygiene and patient education with dentist
  • Maintains cleanliness of dental operatories and completes room disinfection according to protocols
  • Follow universal precautions according to policy
  • Responsible for instrument processing, start to finish
  • Completes instrument sterilization
  • Monitors sterilizer following protocol
  • Maintains records on equipment maintenance, and completes logs
  • Demonstrates ability to take digital, high quality radiographs and understands radiation hazards and precautions and follows office policy precautions
  • Assists other team members
  • Updates patients’ medical and dental history at each encounter and records in patients’ record
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills
  • Responds to patient/family/caregiver needs
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with other members of the health care team
  • Maintains knowledge of dental, personnel and clerical policies and procedures
  • Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner
  • Responds to crisis situation according to policy
  • Maintains uniforms, laundry as needed
  • Demonstrates professional conduct with patients, coworkers, sales/drug representatives, lab and visitors
  • Knowledgeable of instruments and procedures to provide effective assistance in oral surgery, restorative, endodontics, partial/complete dentures, crown and bridge
  • Knowledgeable of the use and preparation, and prepares, common dental materials such as liners, bases, impression materials.
  • Knowledgeable and uses medical/dental terminology especially for documenting including tooth numbers and surfaces
  • Participates in continuing education and technical skill growth
  • Knowledgeable of and performs laboratory procedures including: impressions, preparing study models, trimming models, polishing acrylic appliances as directed by the dentist
  • Attends staff meetings as necessary
  • Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA. OSHA, OIG, guidelines, other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, and supervisor any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) with the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), or Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) through the Ohio Commission on Dental Assistant Certification (OCDAC) is preferred, but not required
  • Must have a valid Ohio Radiography license
  • Must have up-to-date Hepatitis B immunizations
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people
  • Computer experience required
  • Ability to work as a team member
