Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. is Hiring a SSVF Financial Resource Navigator Near Paso Robles, CA

Please note: this is a limited term, part time position. Position Summary:The SSVF Financial Navigator is responsible for providing direct services in the areas of representative payee case management, financial services support, & financial coaching for participants enrolled in the program. The goal of the Financial Navigator is to support participants who demonstrate the need for financial coaching; these supports are implemented using established financial training that enhances participant's daily financial management and aids in attaining long-term budgeting and financial goals. Required Education and Experience:Associate's Degree/ Two years of College Two (2) years of related work experience OR four (4) years of related work experience. Must have experience working with families, setting goals, and achieving outcomes. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered. Preferred Education and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Human Services or related fieldVeterans with other than dishonorable discharge preferred. License & Certifications:Must have dependable, insured transportation, and a valid California Driver License (mileage to be reimbursed) and an acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required.Upon hire, must become certified as a mandated reporter.Upon hire, must complete the “Your Money, Your Goals” training provided by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Essential Functions:Provide individualized financial counseling and workshops focusing on budgeting, long-term money management, credit report access, and credit repair.Assist participants in opening personal savings and checking accounts as needed. Implement the use of the “Your Money, Your Goals” toolkit to empower participants in managing their finances efficiently.Conduct one-on-one financial education services based on the family’s needs. Ensures compliance with laws regarding confidentiality and reporting requirements, maintaining HIPAA certification standards.Responsibilities and Duties: Maintains timely and appropriate documentation related to scope of duties, including progress notes, housing stability plans, aftercare plans, and discharge summaries as related to financial services. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing the “Your Money, Your Goals” financial empowerment toolkit.Conduct in-person assessments and goal-setting sessions with participants, providing ongoing support and utilizing relevant tools. Coordinates care with SSVF Case Managers, VA personnel, and other community partners on behalf of the Veteran.Adhere to program procedures and documentation requirements, including client case notes and records. Participates in client case conference meetings, supervision with the Program Supervisor, and other meetings as required or necessary to carry out the job functions.Attend Department staff meetings and relevant trainings as requested by the Program Manager. Establish and maintain networks with community agencies to facilitate client access to resources.Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices; and act in such a manner as to assure at all times maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, and clients.Performs other duties as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: KnowledgeMust have demonstrated knowledge of local community resources Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and/or Canva, and data tracking programs. SkillsMust have crisis intervention, de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.Must have the ability to coordinate and communicate with clients/parents and staff.AbilitiesMust have the ability to relate well and establish rapport with clients/parents and staff.Must be able to work cooperatively with staff and community agencies. Must have demonstrated the ability to motivate and problem-solve in former positions.Must have the ability to show warmth and appreciation of human growth at all levels and understand the process of gaining trust and credibility with any population.Must be able to relate well to all people of the community regardless of color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or socio-economic level.Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and with minimal supervision.Supervisory Responsibility:This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.Work Environment:Requires working indoors in a temperature-controlled environment with some exposure to copier and printer chemicals/fumes. Will be required to meet with families in their home or other designated locations. Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.PhysicalPosition requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Simple grasping and hand manipulation required, as well as reaching above and below shoulder level.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Monday through Friday, with the potential of some weekends. Hours are typically 8:00am 5:00pm but may need to be adjusted to work later in the evening, due to the schedule of the families served.Travel:This position serves families throughout San Luis Obispo County and will be required to travel to meet families where they are located. Some travel may also be required to attend meetings, conferences and trainings. All travel outside of normal commute time will be reimbursed per the designated Federal rate.Additional Eligibility Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form.Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required. Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment. Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment.
