We are seeking a qualified Accountant to help within a busy Accounting office. The Accountant oversees a variety of accounting tasks, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and ensures financial statements, including general ledger analyses, are completed in a timely manner. He/she prepares and processes expenditure reports for various contracting agencies as required. The Accountant must be able to interface with banks and other funding agencies, prepare for year-end audits, and prepare financial statements.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter with a related degree (BA/BS) and some supervisory experience in AP and AR. Candidates must be detail-oriented and must have strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of accounting principles
• Extensive experience with general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, depreciation schedules and other accounting functions
• Experience in the preparation for annual audits and interaction with external auditors
• Experience in interacting with state, county, and municipal housing agencies a major plus
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Products a must
• Experience with Rent Manager software a plus
• Ability to multi-task and have strong comfort level working in a high volume environment
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field
• AR, GL, and AP experience
• Supervisory experience a plus
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
• Valid driver’s license and car to use for work purposes
