Description

This role is the essential to the workflow of Commonwealth Pain & Spine. Having results delivered in a timely manner so patients can be offered the best care. The Urine Drug Screen Specialist is expected to work with all staff members in a friendly way and adhere to our Mission, Vision, Values, and the CP&S Pledge to our patients. 

Responsibilities

• Collects urine samples following CP&S instructions
• Understanding of clinic lab panels for send out 
• Fills out requisitions for the daily drug screen on all the patients for each MD that have drug screenings. (Name, ICD-9, Current Meds) 
• Calls each patient back, give empty UDS cup, explain procedure, direct patient to a UDS restroom. 
• Obtains filled UDS cup/specimen from Patients. 
• Directs patient to respective MD exam room & note in EMR. 
• Reads the preliminary urine screen results from UDS Cup & enter results in EMR. 
• Packages specimens and delivers to Lab. 
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments 
• Quality Assurance (per company protocol or clinic policies & procedures) 
• Goes over CP&S to make sure all steps of the collection process were followed 
• Distributes results accordingly 
• Documents any abnormal collections and notifies office manager 
• Must follow Universal Precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens. 
• All other duties assigned including duties performed for affiliates, assigns, lessees, contractors or other third parties 
• All other duties as assigned 

Requirements

• Microsoft Word and Outlook experience, preferred
• Efficient typing skills (45-60 WPM & Accurate)
• Strong EMR Experience (Quickly and accurately type notes into EMR as doctor dictates)
• Highly proficient with computers especially: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, KASPER, INSPECT, and EMR Software.

Education and Experience

• Strong Medical Terminology knowledge, preferred
• 1 Years in Pain Management experience, preferred
• Great Attendance required
