THE POSITION

Are you an administrative professional with a keen eye for detail? The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a motivated and dedicated Administrative Officer 2 to join our team! In this position, you will be responsible for providing operational, administrative, and supervisory support to our Park Region 2 team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Officer 2, you will be responsible for managing the overall administrative functions within the Regional Park Office and for coordinating administrative activities and services for the State Park Region 2 field offices. The major functions of this work unit include budgetary preparation and fiscal control, personnel services, purchasing and contracting, labor and employee relations, employee training, and supply and equipment control. Duties you will be responsible for include the following:

  • General administration duties: providing supervisory support to administrative and clerical staff, as well as conducting meetings and preparing reports regarding program objectives
  • Human resource management duties: serve as human resource system coordinator and oversee transactions processing, time and attendance, payroll processing, and other functions
  • Fiscal management duties: maintaining accounting ledgers and expenditure records, as well as preparing and monitoring budget projections and allocations
  • Purchasing duties: ensuring the advancement account, purchasing programs, and biddings for materials are administered in adherence to Commonwealth policy
  • Additional duties: ensuring office supplies and equipment are inventoried and assisting the regional park manager in all administrative and program areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days a week, after successful completion of a specified training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Prospect.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1; or
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
