This job is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Major Giving program for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) Foundation. An incumbent is responsible for developing and managing Foundation activities related to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all major and planned gift donors. Work includes oversight, within scope of position, of prospect research, presentation materials, budgeting and all activities to cultivate, track and solicit all supporters of $10,000 or more. An incumbent leads a major gift team and is responsible for the success of individual and team growth and performance to reach annual revenue goals.
Work requires considerable knowledge of fund-raising principles, ethics, standards and practices, and of the complex legal/administrative elements involved in the major/planned giving processes. Also requires exceptional interpersonal skills in building effective relationships that are often based on patience, persuasion and negotiation, and in matching a prospective donor’s interests with the needs of the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and seven years of related experience in the discipline that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities, including five years management/leadership experience.
Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
