Common Ground Research Networks (Not-for-Profit) is seeking a Junior Production Assistant to assist the Publishing Department. This position offers the chance to learn about academic publishing and gain real-world experience in a publishing environment. Duties and responsibilities will focus on selecting and assigning peer reviewers to article submissions and assisting with other production-related tasks based on necessity and level of experience.

Skills and Abilities

· Advanced or expert proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (Microsoft Office, Google Tools)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Ability to focus simultaneously on short- and long-term projects

· Interest in academic publishing

Responsibilities:

· Assign peer reviewers to journal article submissions

· Correspond with academics and other publishing professionals

· Assist with other stages of the production process as needed

Common Ground Research Networks is a not-for-profit based in the Research Park at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Our mission is to support the building of better societies, and informed citizens, via rigorous and inclusive social knowledge practices within scholarly societies.
