Committee of 100 is Hiring a Sr. Manager / Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs Near Washington, DC

Position Description: Committee of 100 seeks a Public Policy and Government Affairs professional for a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. This position will report to the General Counsel of Committee of 100 and work collaboratively with both the Chair of Committee of 100 Washington DC Region and Chair of the organizations Public Policy Committee. The individual will be chiefly responsible for cultivating access to policymakers in the White House, U.S. Congress, and Executive Branch Agencies and educating them and think tanks, trade associations, and relevant stakeholder constituencies on matters affecting the dual mission of the organization. Working with the General Counsel, they will form Committee of 100s public policy and legal advocacy programs and initiatives. This role will not supervise others.

What you will do:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key points of contact in the Washington D.C. public policy community, including the White House, U.S. Congress, Executive Branch Agencies, think tanks, trade associations, and relevant stakeholders on matters affecting Committee of 100s dual mission.

  • Promote Committee of 100 research and policy products with the above groups.

  • Monitor activities pending or taken by decision makers affecting Committee of 100s dual mission, including legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.

  • Analyze legislation and provide policy advice in key areas of interest to the organization; prepare briefings for Committee of 100 on key legislative and Executive Branch Agency matters.

  • Advise and assist in developing public policy responses reflecting the dual mission of Committee of 100.

  • Advise and assist the Public Policy Committee Chair in policy development and execution.

  • Serve as Committee of 100s liaison with key interest groups and leading organizations in Washington, D.C.

  • Craft collaborations to promote the engagement of Committee of 100s dual mission on the federal, state, and local levels.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of advanced-level experience in federal public policy advocacy, preferably with a focus on international relations, specifically the U.S.-China relationship. Experience in the AAPI or civil rights space is also appreciated.

  • Federal work experience with the U.S. Congress or an Executive Branch Agency. Experience as a U.S. Senate or House Committee staff or as a senior staff for a Senator or Member of Congress is strongly preferred.

  • Strong commitment to vision, mission, and values of Committee of 100.

  • Strong advocacy skills and abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluency in English, with a strong preference for additional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.

NOTE: The Committee of 100 office is working a hybrid schedule and is currently going into the Manhattan office 1-day/week. This Washington, D.C. based role will require presence in the Manhattan office 1-2 times per month.
