Comfort Systems Mid South is Hiring a M.E.P. Layout Assistant Near Birmingham, AL

As a M.E.P. Layout Assistant, the qualified candidate will work alongside the M.E.P. Layout Engineer to plan and execute layout tasks on multiple projects for the company. Duties will include creating a detailed task list of layouts needed per project, preparing data to be used with the Total Station system, collaborating with field personnel during installation process, and storing then reporting layout data to project managers.

On a normal day, the M.E.P. Layout Assistant may work alone or with a team. The successful candidate will undertake the following duties and more as instructed by the Robotic M.E.P. Layout Engineer:

Assist in the planning and implementation layout tasks on projects.
Tracking and reporting multiple project’s layout progress
Layout data file preparation
Communicate with Project Mangers and Foreman to schedule layout dates
Assist with layout tasks (Sleeve location/installation, Hanger location/installation, and checking underground plumbing for accuracy)
Assist with reporting project documentation related to layout tasks
Performing other duties assigned by the Robotic M.E.P. Layout Engineer in an orderly and efficient manner

Requirements

Ability to read and gather data from project schedules
Must be able to read/Interpret blueprints
Proficient in most computer skills (word, excel, etc.)
Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience using power tools (Hammer drill, Impact driver, etc.)
OSHA 10 hour
Experience with Autodesk software preferred
Experience with Smartsheets preferred
Experience with Procore preferred

Other Requirements:

Punctual and regular attendance
Ability to work on a team and interact with people
Willingness to travel, as needed, based on project needs, may include some overnight travel
Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test in accordance to our Company Substance Abuse Policy
Must be able to pass a pre-employment fitness test
