The Department of History, Geography, and Philosophy
Job Summary
The Department of History, Geography, and Philosophy at Columbus State University invites applications for a limited-term, 1-year, full-time Lecturer in World History. Specialization is open to non-US, World History. The start date for this position is August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach both introductory survey courses (with special attention to the HIST 1111: World History to 1500 and 1112: World History Since 1500). Candidates will have the opportunity to teach one upper division course each semester connected with their area of specialization.; 5/5 teaching load.; The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work continuously to improve history education, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in History (strong ABD applicants will be considered, but degree must be in hand by the start date).
Preferred Qualifications
Special consideration will be given to candidates who can teach Asian or African history.
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, particularly a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
