SUMMARY: Plans, directs and coordinates professional development for the ESLand general education teachers. Implementsinstructional practices with an emphasis on merging Language Acquisition intothe content areas: English Language Arts, math, science, social studies andspecial education. Utilizes instructional practices which reflect currenteducational research in teaching and learning. Analyzes data for decisionmaking. Works collaboratively withteachers, administrators and fellow team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•Conduct classroom observations on instructionaldesign and delivery; providing support through nonevaluative feedback, modelteaching, mentoring, etc.
•Utilize student performance data accessedthrough CIMS and other sources to focus planning and enhance the delivery ofinstruction and student achievement.
•Facilitate meetings between ESL teachers andgeneral education teachers to coordinate instruction and discuss studentprogress
•Deliver professional development that is based on best practices for ELLlearners
•Establish and maintain confidentiality
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
•Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure
•TESOL endorsement
•Minimum of 5 years successful experience workingin an ESL program
•Master’s Degree in education preferred
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
•Knowledgeable about the Ohio Academic ContentStandards for English Language Arts and Reading
•Knowledgeable about adolescent learning theory
•Knowledgeable about best practices for teachingELLs
•Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
