Columbus City Schools is Hiring a Business Technology Teacher (6th-12th Grade) Near Columbus, OH
Candidate will be teaching Business/Technology courses. Students will be familiar with Microsoft Office and Google applications with a focus on credentials. Additional responsibilities are to educate and equip students to use the computer as a productivity tool as well as a tool for learning, research, networking, collaboration, telecommunications, and problem solving. Students will leave with skills necessary for the required work in College and the real world.
Licensure requirements:
Career-Technical Administrative Office Technologies or Business Administration and Management OR Alternative Resident Educator for Career-Technical Workforce Development
A district may hire an individual who has not completed a teacher preparation program to teach in career-technical education. The individual will obtain the Alternative Resident Educator (Alt-RE) license if he or she:
Holds a baccalaureate or master’s degree in the content (i.e., subject matter, career field or career-technical category)
Evidences two years of full-time work experience or the equivalent in the career field;
Completes an approved pre-service career-technical education program
OR
Evidences five years of full-time work experience or the equivalent in the career field;
Completes an approved pre-service career-technical education program
After completion of the 24-semester hour approved teacher preparation program and the Resident Educator program, a five-year provisional license is issued for Administrative Office Technologies or Business Administration and Management.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the delivery, planning and all aspects of the Business/Technology. The program includes class instruction and the equally important, hands-on lab projects
Assist in the development of Business/Technology curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure integration of academic and career technical education with 21st century skills
Take part in professional development activities designed to improve the teacher’s knowledge for the purpose of improving teaching and learning.
Monitor student overall academic progress regularly, not limited to interim/quarter grades
Maintain current knowledge of district, state and federal laws, regulations and
Performs other duties as may be assigned
Must commit to South High School's academic initiatives such as OIP, South’s instructional model, Student goal setting and TBT
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and google applications.
Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to design, implement, monitor and evaluate successful initiatives and curriculum
Ability to function as a member of a team and to work as a team member, harmoniously and cooperatively with professional staff and the school community
Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with staff, parents, students and community members regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disability
