Columbus City Schools is Hiring a Business Technology Teacher (6th-12th Grade) Near Columbus, OH

Candidate will be teaching Business/Technology courses. Students will be familiar with Microsoft Office and Google applications with a focus on credentials. Additional responsibilities are to educate and equip students to use the computer as a productivity tool as well as a tool for learning, research, networking, collaboration, telecommunications, and problem solving. Students will leave with skills necessary for the required work in College and the real world.
Licensure requirements:  
Career-Technical Administrative Office Technologies or Business Administration and Management OR Alternative Resident Educator for Career-Technical Workforce Development
A district may hire an individual who has not completed a teacher preparation program to teach in career-technical education. The individual will obtain the Alternative Resident Educator (Alt-RE) license if he or she:
  • Holds a baccalaureate or master’s degree in the content (i.e., subject matter, career field or career-technical category)
  • Evidences two years of full-time work experience or the equivalent in the career field;
  • Completes an approved pre-service career-technical education program
OR
  • Evidences five years of full-time work experience or the equivalent in the career field;
  • Completes an approved pre-service career-technical education program
After completion of the 24-semester hour approved teacher preparation program and the Resident Educator program, a five-year provisional license is issued for Administrative Office Technologies or Business Administration and Management.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the delivery, planning and all aspects of the Business/Technology. The program includes class instruction and the equally important, hands-on lab projects
  • Assist in the development of Business/Technology curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure integration of academic and career technical education with 21st century skills
  • Take part in professional development activities designed to improve the teacher’s knowledge for the purpose of improving teaching and learning.
  • Monitor student overall academic progress regularly, not limited to interim/quarter grades
  • Maintain current knowledge of district, state and federal laws, regulations and 
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned
  • Must commit to South High School's academic initiatives such as OIP, South’s instructional model, Student goal setting and TBT
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and google applications. 
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to design, implement, monitor and evaluate successful initiatives and curriculum
  • Ability to function as a member of a team and to work as a team member, harmoniously and cooperatively with professional staff and the school community
  • Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with staff, parents, students and community members regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned

  • Word processing/Spreadsheet/Electronic presentation/Web navigation skills
  • E-mail management skills
  • Computer network knowledge applicable to the position
  • Knowledge of computer-related storage devices
  • Knowledge of instructional technology integration
  • Knowledge of computer security expectations
