POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Principal oversee the successfuldelivery of academic instruction to the district’s students in grades 9-12 and supervisethe daily operations of assigned school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
·Supervisesthe day-to-day activities of building staff. Duties include hiring, training, counseling, and evaluating staffperformance.
·Assiststhe Principal oversee the delivery of academic instruction ensuring learningexperiences consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals ofthe building and district.
·Providesassistance and guidance to staff who are engaged in student instruction.
·Promotesimprovement of curriculum and instruction within the building.
·Monitorsstudent achievement and progress toward instructional goals and objectives ofthe building and district; initiates corrective action as necessary.
·Administersthe student behavior and discipline program; counsels and provides guidance tostudents regarding a variety of personal, academic and behavioral issues.
·Investigatesand addresses student-related issues and concerns; develops a plan of action toaddress problem(s).
·Workscooperatively with guidance counselors, social workers and other support teammembers to implement various initiatives to increase the high school graduationrate, decrease the student dropout rate, and ensure students are able toachieve their appropriate grade level.
·Developsthe master schedule and class scheduling of students.
·Coordinatesthe completion and distribution of interim and quarterly student report cards.
·Servesas the building test coordinator responsible for coordinating and supervisingstate and district mandated testing at the building level.
·Plans,coordinates and executes assigned grade level activities including studentrecognition, Homecoming, Prom, Graduation, and the like.
·Assumesresponsibility for execution of the building’s emergency and crisis plansincluding fire/emergency drills.
·Monitorsschool building areas to ensure safe conditions and compliance with Federal,state and local health and safety standards.
·Managesthe transportation of students to/from school.
·Createsand promotes a positive and cooperative atmosphere that encourages andmotivates students and staff; ensures rules are fairly and consistentlyadministered.
·Supportsimplementation of the building’s after school activities and events byattending activities/events and ensuring acceptable student behavior at allschool sanctioned/sponsored activities/events.
·Preparesor oversees completion of required documentation and reports.
·Promotespositive school-community relations by clearly communicating school messages toparents and members of the community; responding to parental and communityinquiries in a timely and courteous manner, and maintaining visibility withstudents, parents and the community.
·Performsthe duties of Principal in that individual’s absence.
·Maintainscurrent knowledge of best practices, trends and new developments in high schoolcurriculum, instruction and building administration. Recommends changes tooperations and instructional strategies as necessary.
·Performsother duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
·Master’sdegree in Education or a related field.
·Five(5) or more years of related teaching and administrative experience in a K-12environment.
·ValidOhio Department of Education Administrator certificate or equivalent.
·Demonstratedknowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies relatedto assigned functions.
·Interpersonalskills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levelsof district staff, students, parents and the general public. The incumbent isalso required to have effective verbal and written communication skills and beable to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectfulmanner.
·Writtenand computer skills necessary to maintain various departmental records,documents and reports.
·Analyticalability to develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concernsin a timely manner.
·Skills necessary to provideguidance, train and review the work of assigned staff.
