Position Overview

TheAcute Detox CNA provides direct and indirect medical and non-medical servicesin compliance with all applicable Washington state codes, policies andprocedures of Columbia Wellness. Supports amedically staffed, acute care detox model and contributes to the cohesivenessand success of the unit with direct, respectful communication. Provide information to clients, their families, careproviders, other community person's and CW staff.

Summary of the Essential Duties andResponsibilities

  • Assist with intake tasks, includingexplaining and completing admission consent forms, taking breathalyzer reading,urine drug screen collection, and inspecting, inventorying and locking uppatient personal belongings.
  • Observe and monitor client behavior basedon schedule, treatment plan interventions, and unit needs.
  • Ensure physical client safety andsecurity by conducting regular unit and room checks.
  • Maintain accurate upto date records.
  • Participate andassist clients in areas of treatment plan implementation as directed.
  • Assist in meetingclient's needs.
  • Identify needs notprovided by CW staff and report them to the appropriate nurse/provider.
  • Provideindividual assistance to patients with special mobility, withdrawal or personalcare needs, including taking vitals as assigned by the nurse on duty.
  • Work independentlywithin scope of practice
  • Maintain currentcertification in CPR, First Aid and CPI.
  • Effective use oftechnology and software including but not limited to: computers, phones, email,EMR, etc.
  • Be helpful,respectful, approachable and team-oriented.
  • Assist nursing staff with phonereception and other administrative unit needs.
  • Effective timemanagement including but not limited to: planning ahead where possible, bepunctual in person and with work performed.
  • Build strongworking relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Provide pertinentverbal and written shift reports to interdisciplinary team.
  • Be receptive tofeedback, willing to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
  • Complete alldocumentation, reporting, and other paperwork per agency standards.
  • Attend andparticipate in appropriate staff, medical, organizational, and externalmeetings. Attendcollateral meetings with other clinical staff when requested.
  • Work efficientlyboth independently and as part of a team.
  • Provide a safeand healthy environment which includes maintaining, cleaning, and disposal ofequipment and supplies according to policy and procedures.
  • Completedaily inventory of patient and staff supplies and place daily order withappropriate purchasing staff to assure a sufficient supply, including but notlimited to plastic gloves, breathalyzer mouthpieces, office supplies, and othersupplies.
  • Other duties asassigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess currentWashington State CNA certification (in compliance with Chapter 18.88 RCW).
  • Minimum of two yearsnursing assistant experience and prefer one year of psychiatric nursingassistance experience.
  • Have an up to dateknowledge of psychiatric medications, mental illness theories, and current practices.
  • Possess knowledge ofphysical disease, assessment and referral.

Salary: $17.08/hr. 

This position is a part of a union (OPEIU Local 11)
