Colorado Legal Services is Hiring a Language Access Coordinator Near Denver, CO

Job Title: Language Access Coordinator - Grant Funded

Location: Denver Office with travel to other areas of state

Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Manager of Client Support Services

Salary Range: $52,150 - $75,830 plus $4,200 yearly stipend. Salary commensurate with experience.

Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is Colorado’s statewide nonprofit legal aid program, with thirteen offices providing civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans throughout the state. Position Summary:

Colorado Legal Services seeks a dedicated, full-time Language Access Coordinator to join our organization and be part of the Domestic Violence Prevention interdisciplinary Team, which includes an attorney, paralegal, and social worker. This is a grant-funded position through at least 12/31/25, with the possibility of grant extension or moving to a permanent staff position at the expiration of the initial grant term.This role is pivotal in ensuring language access services to domestic violence victims/survivors outside of urban areas in a coordinated and efficient manner.

The position will work with non-metro offices of CLS (offices outside of Denver and Colorado Springs) and will involve travel and remote work at these offices with an opportunity to work from home for a portion of the required hours. Additionally, this position will be responsible for identifying language access needs in rural communities across the state by completing assessments, connecting with community partners, and identifying resources for in-person and virtual interpretation and/or translation services during the course of a legal case. 

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure that clients who are receiving services from the Domestic Violence Prevention program have access to language interpretation and translation services;
  • Ensure rural clients served by CLS offices in non-metro parts of the state are provided resources to access language interpretation and translation services;
  • Ensure that 100% of monolingual Spanish speakers have effective language access services through the entirety of the legal case;
  • Access language resources for non-English/Spanish clients and build partnerships with interpreters/translators who can provide services for lesser available languages;
  • Identify documents (legal and community resources) that require translation into clients’ Native languages and create a plan for translating those documents;
  • Develop partnerships with local resources for language service and ensure equity in client access to services as well as for other supportive activities to develop the client’s stability such as case management and mental health services;
  • In partnership with CLS leadership, compile and analyze language access surveys completed by rural Domestic Violence clients to determine improvement opportunities and implement changes;
  • Partner with the Domestic Violence Interdisciplinary team for community events and education to ensure all participants can access the event and corresponding documents/flyers;
  • Assist in grant reporting for the position including quarterly and yearly updates regarding implementation, number of clients served, and languages used;
  • Develop a statewide resource list of interpretation and translation services for CLS staff to use and refer to for language access needs. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher
    • 2 years of experience doing direct work with minority and/or vulnerable populations will equate to an Associate’s Degree
  • 1 year experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of Colorado, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience accessing or utilizing language access services
  • Understanding of and experience in working within the US legal system and with attorney’s
  • Certification from the Office of Language Access Testing Program or other state certification

Compensation and Benefits:
