STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Compensation and Classification Analyst develops, implements, researches, and recommends
compensation solutions for the Colorado Judicial Department. Actively participates in program or project management relating to total compensation and job classifications.

DISTINGUISHING FACTORS
This classification is distinguished from other classifications by the focus on research, analysis,
interpretation and solution recommendations for total compensation matters that can vary in complexity and urgency and system maintenance for the Colorado Judicial Department. This classification reports to the Total Compensation Manager.

Are you interested in joining a service oriented and dynamic Human Resources team? We are seeking an individual who can contribute expertise in compensation and classification. The Compensation and Classification Analyst works within the Human Resources and the greater Judicial Department community by providing strategic insights into our organization, along with compensation design and structure.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and work closely with our HR and various leadership teams to provide compelling compensation analysis and compensation support covering a wide array of areas, including but not limited to the following:

  • Performing duties necessary to administer the total compensation program for Colorado Judicial Department personnel.
  • Researching and providing preliminary recommendations on total compensation issues for further development.
  • Maintaining and updating job descriptions, compensation plan, and the classification and compensation systems.
  • Perform classification and compensation studies as requested to ensure that compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Reviewing requests for compensation adjustments.
  • Interpreting and applying standards, policies, laws, rules and regulations regarding total compensation and classification.

Salary offers are based on a wide variety of factors including a candidate’s experience, skills, and education, as well as budget availability. The full salary range for this position is $5,576.00 - $7,716.00 per month. The hiring range for this position is $5,576.00 - $6,500.00 per month. Salary growth within the job classification is based on performance awards, salary survey increases, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs duties necessary to administer the total compensation program for Colorado Judicial
Department personnel, including monitoring compensation practices and recommendations to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations such as FLSA, EEO, and the Equal Pay Act etc.

Researches and provides preliminary recommendations on total compensation matters for further
development.

Reviews requests for compensation adjustments in a timely and efficient manner, keeping the
stakeholder advised of progress.

Conducts classification and compensation studies or projects requiring a moderate degree of difficulty and responsibility as requested to ensure that compensation objectives are achieved.

Using data modeling and analysis, makes classification and compensation recommendations to the Total Compensation Manager.

Evaluates, maintains and updates job descriptions and makes salary range recommendations.

Maintain and update the classification and compensation system(s) of record.

Performs position audits to determine appropriate job classification in accordance with the Colorado Judicial System Personnel Rules.

Makes classification and compensation recommendations and/or produces written narratives of findings after consulting with managers, supervisors, incumbents, and/or subject matter experts to identify major duties and responsibilities of positions.

Studies effectiveness of existing total compensation policies, guidelines and procedures.

Assists Total Compensation Manager with implementation of new plans that coincide with compensation trends and Department objectives.

Interprets and applies standards, policies, laws, rules and regulations regarding total compensation and classification.

Evaluate current total compensation procedures and processes and make recommendations for improved efficiencies.

May assist with health and benefit programs as needed.

May perform payroll functions as needed.

Administers employee recognition and incentive programs.

Attends meetings and training as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibility. Responsibility for one's own work product and work within a unit performing similar functions. Occasionally provides lead function, advice, and explains work instructions to other employees or volunteers.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, public or court administration or related field is required and one year of human resources, payroll or related experience.

OR

Graduation from high school or equivalent with three years of experience in a Human Resources office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
