The Associate Director of Accessibility Services provides reasonable accommodations for qualified students under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Collaborates with students, parents, faculty, class deans, facilities, legal counsel, Residence Life and Housing, Academic Services and Learning Resources, college administration, health care providers and the like assuring that the College is compliant with federal and state laws, local ordinances and college policies and practices.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Evaluates neuro-psychological and psycho-educational evaluations along with other medical documentation to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations under ADA and 504.
  • Conducts interactive process with students (parents and health care providers) to establish reasonable accommodations.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to make sure reasonable accommodations are provided.
  • Responds to questions and concerns that arise around services to students with disabilities from students, faculty, parents, class deans, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provides educational programs on disability services for the community at large.
  • Stays abreast of Federal and State laws, local ordinances, and college policies and practices that guide the process of accommodating students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and must stay current with technology and its use for students with disabilities.
  • Interest and investment in Jesuit values especially in the process of helping students get the most from their Holy Cross education.
  • Responsible for helping the College to remain complaint with Federal and State laws, local ordinances, and college policies and practices.
  • Helps maintain updated version of office Policy Manual.
  • Helps produce semi-annual office newsletter.
  • Coordinates Eye-to-Eye program for college student mentors and middle school mentees.
  • Training of student note takers and exam proctors.
  • Help establish and maintain an Access and Disability Peer Educator Group.
  • Reports to the Associate Dean for Student Development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate in Counseling, Social Work or Assistive Technology and Human Services.
  • Ability to interpret neuro-psychological and psycho-educational testing.
  • Prior experience of at least 3 years with disability services on a college campus.
  • Keen awareness of Federal and State laws that guide the process of providing accommodations to students with disabilities.
  • Knowledgeable about disabilities, accommodations, and technological aids.
  • Ability to engage with and consult to a wide variety of students, parents, and professionals on and off campus.
  • Strong student service interest and skill-level.
