Job Title: Medical Assistant III - Kingsville Office

Classification: Full Time/ Exempt

Reports to: Clinical Director

Summary: Provides support for medical providers and administration to assure the smooth and productive operation of the health center.

Responsibilities: Medical Assistant III - Kingsville Office

• Identify, coordinate and/or provide appropriate levels of care under the direct supervision of an RN, APRN, and MD
• Perform clinical operations and medical management activities across the continuum of care (assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating). This includes some level of case management and coordination of care. 
• Provide health education, coaching and treatment decision support for patients.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment ahead of patients scheduled appointment.
• Assists the physician by scribing notes, referrals, follow ups, etc. 
• Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
• Completes task delegated by Providers and documents appropriately.
• Prioritizes patient communications for appropriate and timely follow-up.
• Assists with expedited scheduling for prioritized patients (Rapid Start, PREP, PEP)
• Assists with completion of various forms, responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
• Maintains safe, secure and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Assists Clinical Director in supervising, delegating and performing Quality Assurance checks of the Medical Assistant staff. 
• Provides ongoing training, coaching and mentoring to Medial Assistant staff preparing them for future leadership roles as they become available within the organization.

• Train to become Superuser on the Clinic’s EMR.
• Exhibit critical thinking skills, initiative and have knowledge Clinical Quality Indicators such as UDS, HEDIS, and Managed Care requirements. 
• Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply organizational policies, procedures and standing delegated orders. 
• Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
• Respond objectively and diplomatically to patient concerns. 

Qualifications/Experience:  Medical Assistant III - Kingsville Office 

• Candidate must Certified Medical Assistant. 
• Spanish Speaking
• Preferred experience in working in a FQHC or similar health center. 
• Experience working with LGBTQ Population
• Previous experience in the treatment and management of HIV/AIDS.

Time/Physical Requirements:  Medical Assistant III - Kingsville Office 

• Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm/40 hours per week., possible 10-hour shifts.
• Some evening and weekend activities may require flexing schedule
• Tasks occur in both medical office and clinic setting
• Able to lift 25lbs and perform normal duties associated in a clinic and office setting.
