Job Title: Medical Billing Clerk
Reports to: Billing Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: The Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for performing various billing functions and utilizing computer knowledge by verifying patient’s insurance coverage and patient information to process insurance claims as well as performing the following responsibilities and duties.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); medical billing experience preferred.
L anguage Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
C omputer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office; internet software and proprietary software. computer skills including the ability to use spreadsheet and word processing programs at a highly proficient level.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment: The office may be a busy facility. The Medical Billing Clerk may have to manage several projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of multiple patients. The Medical Billing Clerk may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.

Physical Demands: Working in the billing department requires constant sitting in front of a computer which can cause muscle strain. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
