Job Description

We are seeking a Software Development Manager for a direct hire/full time role in the Denver Tech Center. This role will be onsite/in-office Monday-Friday (no remote options available) and will be responsible for the day to day management of full-stack software engineering teams and all facets of hiring, performance management, and growth opportunities. This position will focus on the overall delivery of customer-facing web and mobile applications and their supporting services, partnering with a digital product team to align with the Product road map and desired outcomes. The Software Development team will be planning and implementing new customer-facing web and mobile applications and their back-end services. 

Responsibilities of this role: 

• Manages cross-functional and geographically dispersed software teams responsible for the quality and timely execution and delivery of products and features.
• Leads the full product development lifecycle from concept, to design, to releases to testing and QA, to release and post-release code maintenance.
• Guides cross-functional teams consisting of direct reports and matrixed team members to accomplish desired project outcomes.
• Manages the product roadmap (epics, stories, and sprints) to deliver prioritized content and capabilities to meet validated customer use cases.
• Presents proposed solutions and reports status to upper management.
• Organizes and delegates work to various levels of software developers.
• Implements software proposals and estimates scope of work.
• Ensures adequate project documentation is created on projects.
• Makes decisions and solves problems while working under pressure.
• Prioritizes and organizes load of work; effectively manages resource management.
• Coaches development and design teams with detailed guidance during the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and delivering customer-facing applications, and defining and enforcing application development standards, practices, and development patterns, as well as general UI best practices. Strong programming skills in enterprise Java, Javascript optimized for scalable systems preferred.
• Ability to plan, manage, and execute in an Agile software development process. A mastery of Scrum concepts and a proven understanding of Scrum in practice is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
• Technical knowledge in modern distributed software architecture and AWS platforms and services.
• Knowledge of databases (Relational and NoSQL); RESTful web services and APIs; containerized applications; messaging patterns; and modern web front-end technologies.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize effectively and independently across diverse projects and tasks.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience

Skills & Experience

• 4 years of Software Engineering management experience
• Background in JavaScript (React, VueJS, Angular), Java and/or Python, React Native or native iOS/Android development, agile (Scrum) development in a fast-paced environment
• Capable of transforming our application portfolio into a service architecture

Additional Information

This permanent/ direct hire role will be located onsite in Englewood, CO. This role will be located onsite in the office (there is no remote or telecommuting options at this time) and will work with a collaborative team during normal business hours at the company location in the Denver Tech center area.
