POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Development Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer (CDO)

SUPERVISES: None

EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Exempt

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Development Coordinator works under the guidance of the CDO to create, implement, execute, and monitor fundraising plans for the organization which will achieve the goals for sustainable funding through fundraising campaigns, events, and other initiatives, including liaising with donors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Use independent judgment and discretion to create, organize, and successfully implement fundraising initiatives including, but not limited to: fundraising campaigns, annual gala/auction, events and community-driven fundraisers
  • Define and execute timelines to support campaign and event execution and optimization and documentation of processes for efficiency
  • Cultivate, nurture and maintain successful and productive relationships with board members, current and potential sponsors, individual donors, and volunteers through effective and articulate written and verbal communications
  • Accurately track donations, grants and other funds received, monitor fundraising progress, and produce quality reports for internal and external use
  • Use independent judgment and discretion to identify and develop suitable creative fundraising opportunities through various business development techniques including prospecting, targeted follow-up, and new lead generation
  • Assist in recruiting, identifying, and training temporary coordinators and volunteers
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent of college and experience in a non-profit position, fundraising experience preferred
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience working with data, including structuring data collection, capturing data and conducting data analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor management and fundraising technology solutions, experience in Salesforce, Classy, iWave preferred
  • Able to maintain privacy of confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Proven ability to multi-task and support multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication proficiency, and a commitment to excellence in customer service

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit and type frequently
  • Ability to communicate via telephone (mobile or landline) frequently
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time occasionally
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds occasionally
