Clean Water Services is Hiring an INTERNAL ONLY - Senior Wastewater Plant Operator Near Hillsboro, OR
The Water Resource Recovery Operations and Services department is seeking a Senior Wastewater Plant Operator. This position operates and controls District treatment facilities, equipment, and processes; establishes and implements shift operating plans. Coordinates technical and procedural decisions within a program; coordinates and assigns work involved in daily operations. Serves as a liaison within the Department to provide operations input during project design phases and coordination during project construction.

Works directly with the Operations Supervisor to coordinate goals, objectives, facility performance and appearance. Enhances efficiencies of treatment processes to optimize cost centers such as energy, dewatering of biosolids, and chemical usage.
Participates in design meetings for construction projects to provide operational input. Works closely with the Construction Coordinators to review deactivation requests from contractors and to schedule work that involves taking equipment or processes off line to ensure that regulatory compliance is maintained.
Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates multiple work activities between Operations and all Divisions within the Department. Schedules, coordinates, and ensures needed resources (labor and parts) are available to accomplish work plans and minimize disruptions to treatment operations.
Communicates regularly with operators throughout the shift and provides input on unit process optimization, housekeeping, and safety; provides operational feedback to the Operations Supervisor from staff with concerns and suggestions; operates and controls wastewater treatment facilities, equipment, and processes.
Plans, organizes, and develops training modules on unit processes, process control, and treatment process fundamentals; provides technical guidance as needed to operations staff; coordinates training for Wastewater Plant Operator positions.
Monitors and assists in optimizing control loop performance; makes recommendations and assists the Process Analysts in implementing process changes.
Plans, organizes, and develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); investigates the need for SOP’s and the methods used in carrying out SOP; conducts Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for tasks and procedures related to SOP’s; maintains and develops revisions to the Electronic Rounds.
Perform Wastewater Plant Operator duties to ensure continuity of District operations.
Drive a Clean Water Services or personal vehicle for work related purposes.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Materials, methods, practices, processes, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment plants and related facilities
The operation of advanced biological and nutrient removal treatment systems, including equipment, procedures, and processes required to meet or exceed permit requirements
Safe work practices and precautions connected with the operation of wastewater or water reclamation facilities
Software applications related to the work, including the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA)
NPDES permit parameters
SKILL IN:
Use of computers and software for process control recording and monitoring, spreadsheets, calendar management, and word processing
Operating, inspecting, and troubleshooting treatment plant equipment, instrumentation, and control systems
Process sampling and standardized lab analysis
Operating mobile equipment such as trucks and fork lifts
Use of hand and power tools
Assigning work to, training, and evaluating crew members; problem solving, planning, scheduling and decision making
ABILITY TO:
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Analyze data from meters, monitors, lab results, control systems, and process reports, assess alternatives, exercise sound judgment and take corrective action
Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
Work with minimal supervision, give others clear written and oral instructions
Provide informative feedback to supervisors and other workgroups, perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of process problems
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including co-workers, internal and external stakeholders
Operate effectively and resolve disputes in a team environment
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the KSAs would be: 3 years in a Clean Water Services Wastewater Treatment Facility;
