Job Description:

The Accountant will be responsible for producing financial reports for our associations. In this role the Accountant will build relationships with the community managers, as well as act as the lead over the Accounting Team. Accountant should have a strong sense of accountability, pride in work, and eager work ethic.

Required Experience:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Homeowners Association and Condominium Association accounting/bookkeeping with proven positive track record.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Create journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Produce monthly financial reports.
• Assist community managers with accounting questions.
• Assist with annual audits and reviews.
• Organize and submit tax forms.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other pertinent reports.
• Identify and resolve exceptions between ledgers and balance sheets.
• Post journal entries as needed.
• Review and post bank returns and AP/AR adjustments.
• Set up new client accounts.
• Process property resales.
• Order payment coupon books.
• Meet with Board of Directors to review financial statements
• Prepare the opening of new bank accounts to include distribution of needed material and signature cards.
• Act as Accounting Team Lead and oversee accuracy of the team’s work.

Requirements

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft and Excel.
• Ability to learn new software programs.
• Ability to meet deadlines as well as a high sense of accountability and urgency.
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner.
• Willingness to learn as well as proven adaptability and versatility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Answer phone when necessary.
• Work in a team and independent atmosphere.

Preferred Experience and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred
• 5 years progressive accounting experience in Homeowners Association and Condominium Association accounting or similar work environment
• Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software and ABC general ledgers
• Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
• Ability to learn quickly and independently.
• Use of AppFolio

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
