JOB TITLE: PT CUSTODIAN

STATUS: PART TIME, NON-EXEMPT,NON BARGAINING
COMPENSATION: $12.00 - $20.00/Hour

SUMMARY Provides custodial services for the Police Department and may work rotating shifts. Accountable for maintaining professionally high cleanliness standards in all offices, restrooms, and building areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes concrete, linoleum, tile and vacuums rugs and carpets in the facility offices and rooms
• Cleans and dusts walls, furniture, and other equipment
• Polishes desktops and other furniture
• Picks up paper and other refuse on floors and sweeps hallways and entranceways.
• Restrooms - Washes, scrub, & disinfects rest rooms, scrubs floor, shines mirrors and faucets, cleans sinks and toilets
• Kitchens - wipes counter tops, shines sink, scrubs floor, cleans refrigerators and microwave weekly, cleans stoves, cleans waste containers, pick up refuse on floor, counter, tables
• Cleans windows, door panels and drinking fountains in all areas
• Cleans and polishes any metal work
• Empties and cleans waste containers and shredder containers in every room
• Assists in moving and/or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipment
• Maintains equipment used in the course of work
• Informs supervisor of supplies, tools and equipment needed for cleaning
• Performs special custodial work upon request of staff with supervisor's approval
• Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards to supervisor
• Responsible for locking doors and windows, turning out lights and securing building as assigned
• Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy in all phases of work
• Effectively and respectfully communicates with staff, the public and other employees

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED),
• Minimum of three years of custodial experience
• Strong knowledge of safe, efficient cleaning practices for public buildings
• Must be highly reliable, organized, trustworthy and responsible
• Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.
