This position designs and inspects traffic related projects and operates traffic systems (under direction of a Traffic Engineer).If you would like to learn more about these positions, please click here: https://springfield-or.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Traffic-Engineering-Tech-1.pdfMinimum Qualifications: The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.• Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in engineering or related field, and;• 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, or related experience (Traffic Engineering Technician II: B23 grade)• 5 or more years of advanced level experience performing more technically challenging duties (ex: programming hardware and software to support traffic signals, streetlights, and traffic communication systems, designing/ drafting traffic system plans, etc.) (Traffic Engineering Technician III: B24 grade)Licensing/Certifications: • Valid Driver’s License in the State of Oregon at time of appointmentThe following are not required at time of hire, but within time frame designated: • Traffic Signal Inspector Certification (within one year of hire)• International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certifications to include: 1. Work Zone Certification (within one year)2. Signs and Markings Certification (within one year of hire/appointment to Technician III)3. Traffic Signals, and Roadway Lighting Certification (within three years of hire/appointment to Technician III)Selection and Interview Process: Top candidates will be invited to interview.
