$14.00JOB OBJECTIVES:Under general supervision and procedural control of the Recreation Supervisor, is responsible for implementing specific programs as assigned. Employee has supervisory responsibilities for the actions, job performance, supervision and monitoring of all assigned employees and program participants. Job involves decision-making which requires sound interpretation and mature judgment. Employee provides continuous service to the public frequently involving sensitive matters that demand the utmost tact, courtesy, professionalism and resourcefulness. Employee has full responsibility for directing, assisting and evaluating job performance of one or more employees.

Must exhibit special leadership qualities and ability to work with supervisors as well as subordinates. Must be able to promote good public relations for the city. Must be able to meet the public in a courteous manner, using tact, professionalism and diplomacy for all programs to include but not limited to dance, ballet, cheerleading, strength & conditioning, karate, track, tennis, baking, T-ball, soccer, softball and archery.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS:
General office equipment, personal computer, fax, copier, calculator, supplies and sports related equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works some irregular hours or shifts that include in and out of office by working in different parks and facilities within the city. Must be knowledgeable and capable of properly using program specific equipment, facilities and teaching assistants for teaching of assigned programs. Will work with little or no hazard to health or body in standard conditions with adequate lighting, heating and ventilation. Must be able to work outside that include heat and cold weather conditions. Physical effort limited to lifting 20-30 lbs; work involves some standing and walking from place to place, with some uneven terrain.
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED equivalent with at minimum two (2) semesters (24 hrs. min.) of college credit and a minimum of one (1) year experience in program specific leadership positions such as coach, teacher, playground leader, etc. Must have sufficient knowledge to work as assigned with minimal supervision. Must have current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR. Requires excellent grammar, writing, organizational and communication skills. Must have the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions and multi-task. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, with a satisfactory driving record. Preferred Qualifications: College degree and bilingual.
