City of Pueblo is Hiring a Seasonal Tennis/Pickleball Staff Near Pueblo, CO

This is a non-exempt, temporary, part-time position, limited to 1300 hours annually, under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator. Staff are responsible for all participants, the planning and implementation of all activities at the site assigned to include, but not limited to instructing, enforcing rules, regulations, and proper guidelines, while engaging and interacting with participants and public, creating a fun structured environment. 
 
This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required for the position.
  • Plans and implements session and daily program activities.
  • Maintains records and data on each participant.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintains cleanliness of facilities.

IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS: 

  • Maintains equipment, supplies, and inventories.
  • Appropriate management of youth/adults at the site.
  • Operates Point of Sale system (POS). 
  • Collect fees, answer phone, and provides information concerning the facility and its programs to the public. 
  • Handles and reports all facility and emergency incidents that occur.
  • Establishes a positive rapport with all participants/parents in the program.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • May perform the duties and similar classifications of an equal or lower pay grade. 

Physical Requirements:
The physical standards an employee must meet to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:
  • Most work is performed in an outdoor environment on a tennis court with occasional work performed in a normal City office environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
  • Must have the ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • Demonstrated agility and flexibility for sports activities and facilitating game-related movements.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to supervise activities and respond to safety concerns.
  • Proficient use of hands for scorekeeping, handling equipment, and maintaining facilities.
  • Concentrate on and complete tasks in the presence of distractions.
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, copy machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
  • Knowledge of USTA’s Quick Start Method of Instruction
  • Knowledge of tennis and pickleball operations, services, and activities.
  • Knowledge of youth and adult tennis and pickleball programming.
  • Knowledge of appropriate staff supervision skills.
  • Knowledge of group management techniques.
  • Ability to prepare quality written reports and keep accurate activity records.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to listen, communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public and other agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age by the date of hire. 
  • Tennis or pickleball experience 
 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
  • Must attend City provided Recreational Instructors workshop within 60 days of employment. 
  • This position involves regular exposure to dust, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and extended direct exposure to the sun. 
 
All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination.

 
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information.
