If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s). You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date.
Plans and administers all resources and functions of Streets and Parks Divisions within the Bureau of Operations (e.g., streets, parks, trails, sewers, equipment repair, trees and construction).
Administers the planning and implementation of various maintenance programs (e.g., pothole patching, park maintenance, trees, snow and ice control, street sweeping, stormwater management, walls and steps).
Supervises assigned personnel; evaluates work; recommends and implements approved disciplinary and/or corrective action; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required.
Manages and implements Best Management Practices (BMP’s) related to sustainability programs (i.e. Stormwater, Energy, Fueling, Equipment, etc.) related to street and park maintenance and construction projects.
Participates in the preparation of the Departmental Operating and Capital budgets.
Participates in the contract reviews relative to the purchase of commodities/equipment and/or securing services/repairs/rentals used in maintenance and construction operations and projects.
Meets with community groups, organizations and/or residents to resolve problems and issues and coordinates volunteer projects related to right-of-ways and/or parks.
Maintains records and prepares accurate reports, correspondence, etc.
Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the materials, equipment and personnel under jurisdiction toward the effective, efficient and economical attainment of program goals, including maximum convenience to the public and safety of employees.
Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy including union agreements to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
