Salary: $23.00 - $25.00 Hourly Location : Hopkins, MN Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 2024-00033 Department: Recreation Division: Recreation Opening Date: 03/01/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Job Description The City of Minnetonka Recreation Department is seeking team-orientated, ambitious, energetic, and experienced individuals with a strong service attitude. This is an opportunity for those looking to further their career as a recreation or aquatics professional. This is a seasonal position beginning in May to the end of August. Facility Supervisors are responsible for managing the daily operations and on-site supervision of Shady Oak Beach. Under the direction of the City of Minnetonka Aquatics Manager, this position is required to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Facility Supervisors will need to manage multiple activities simultaneously and interpret operating policies and administration duties in a capacity that requires independent judgment. Supervisors must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary. Supervisors should maintain a positive collaborative work environment between staff and management. Ideal programming staff should possess strong leadership qualities with supervision and mentoring staff. Schedule expectations: Must be available a minimum of 32 hours per week. Must be available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Will assist in organizing staff training in late May to early June prior to the summer season. This is a seasonal position beginning in May to the end of August. *Please note this posting has been changed to close from 5/30 to "Open-until-filled." Duties/Responsibilities
Supervision of entire beach facility, including risk management practices, cleanliness, staff training, and managing relationships with guests and staff.
Communicates professionally, effectively, and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Maintains cleanliness and a hazard-free environment; performs various custodial duties such as sweeping, picking up trash, and sanitizing all facilities within the beach area.
Requires attentiveness, outstanding customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be proactive and exceed patron expectations.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive public image by addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents immediately.
Provides guidance and constructive feedback to beach staff and provides support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
Assists with opening and closing the facility, and completing and maintaining records and reports.
Creates and maintains the schedule for beach lifeguards, head lifeguards, concession, and gate attendant staff.
Assist with inventory processes and management for concession orders, first aid, and cleaning supplies.
Plan and lead staff in-services and pre-season training.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age
Minimum two years of supervisor or leadership experience in aquatic facilities, recreation programming, or related field.
Must have current American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Certification prior to season start.
A minimum of 32 hours of weekly availability.
Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Assist in organizing staff training in late May to early June prior to the summer season.
Ability to be held accountable, following through on commitments, producing timely work to required standards, and pitching in to complete tasks.
Ability to remain calm in emergencies, communicate quickly and effectively, and provide emergency response.
Additional Information Physical Demands/Work Environment: Moderately physically demanding work, typically involving a combination of occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Occasionally lifts and/or move items weighing up to 30 lbs or heavier items (300 lbs) with assistance. When working outdoors, staff are exposed to all types of weather conditions. Skilled in:
