Under general supervision and procedural control from the Aquatics Superintendent, the Junior Lifeguard monitors to ensure the safety of guests at any outdoor recreation facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. Employee is responsible for implementing specific programs as assigned. Employee prepares standard routine reports and records. Job involves decision making which require sound interpretation and mature judgment. Assists and primarily prevents accidents at any recreation facility, in the water at pools and in the immediate surrounding areas by enforcement of pertinent rules and regulations. The second most important responsibility of a lifeguard is lifesaving rescue and emergency care of accident victims. The employee provides continuous service to the public frequently involving sensitive matters that demand the utmost tact, courtesy and resourcefulness.
