Performs the maintenance and renovation of the City's parks.
Environmental Factors
Work is primarily performed outdoors in all weather conditions; exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, explosives, chemicals, fumes, odors, gases, dust and poor ventilation. Safety equipment and clothing includes gloves, vests, back brace, steel toe boots, glasses and ear plugs.
Physical Factors
Moderately heavy work involving frequent balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, crouching, kneeling and squatting; pushing, pulling and lifting items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds; lifting and/or carrying with assistance bleachers and stages weighing up to four-hundred (400) pounds.
Work Situation Factors
Requires shift work, flex time, occasional overtime and competing demands. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.

Full-time, regular, non-exempt, union-represented position
This position is graded at a BC04.
No specific educational requirement. Six months of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture maintenance or a related area. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Licenses/Certification(s)
Valid driver’s license required. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Knowledge of: Principles, practices, methods and techniques of parks building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to: Use hand and power tools and motorized vehicles and equipment; perform basic reading, writing and mathematics.
Skills in: Tool and equipment use.
