La Casa is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Worker Near Las Cruces, NM

Position Summary: Responsible for routine facility maintenance and grounds-keeping following recognized industry practices in a safe and efficient manner.

Hours: As assigned, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday-Friday, (some weekends and off hours may be required) Rotational after-hours on-call is required.

Reports to: Facilities and Fleet Supervisor

Condition of Employment: Full-Time, Grant Funded Contingent upon funding

Salary: $16.00/ hr.

Essential Duties:

Performs all routine repairs and maintenance of La Casa Inc. property, owned transitional housing properties, and South Valley facility, and all fleet vehicles, unless work requires a licensed Contractor.

Maintains scheduled maintenance logs and updates records to ensure documentation of repairs.

Performs minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices and appliances as needed.

Performs minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves and other devices as needed.

Performs minor carpentry work to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens and furniture and assembly of furniture.

Performs minor painting and drywall repairs.

Escorts service contractors to necessary locations for equipment service to maintain line-of-sight with clients.

Moves heavy furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment.

Maintains grounds, ensures grass and vegetation are routinely watered and kept pruned.

Responsible for snow and ice removal from steps and walks at building entrances and connecting walks.

Observes and reports, through the work order system, any and all defects, deterioration and wear and tear on any of the facilities and fleet vehicles.

Communicates routinely with key administrative and staff personnel on special events and functions scheduled for the buildings that may require special furnishing arrangements and other duties that are needed.

Assists with arranging for and picking up donations.

Sweeps and mops common areas on a scheduled basis.

Assists clients with moving personal items.

Provides all services in an empathic manner, providing guidance, motivation and encouragement according to trauma informed guided principles.

Administrative Duties:

Maintains scheduled maintenance logs and updates records to ensure documentation of repairs.

Seeks contractor written quotes of work to be performed, maintains records.

Coordinates work orders in order of priority and completes work orders in a timely manner, updates records to close out open work orders.

Compiles data upon request and completes all required documentation in a timely manner, to include monthly and quarterly reports.

Training:

Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.

Stay abreast of best practices in facilities and vehicle maintenance and grounds keeping.

Ongoing professional development including keeping abreast of recent trends and developments regarding domestic violence and advocacy as they pertain to the clients served by La Casa.

Attend seminars and trainings approved by supervisor.

Additional Duties:

Ability to drive agency vehicle on a daily basis including all rural communities surrounding Sunland Park, Hatch, Anthony and Chaparral, NM.

Assists donors with unloading items into carts and pushing carts to outside donations area when needed.

Picks up bags or boxes of donations from outside front area or lobby area to maintain clear paths.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years full-time (can be volunteer or paid) experience in facilities/grounds keeping and vehicle repairs/maintenance.

Substitution of education/experience: NONE

Language: Bilingual in Spanish/English is highly desirable.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Work requires frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, standing/walking. Lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly and pushing and pulling heavy furniture and other equipment. Employee will be exposed to harsh chemicals and must wear PPE including safety goggles, ear protection and gloves at all times. When working indoors work environment is temperature controlled, when working outdoors is subject to various weather conditions including extreme heat.

Other: Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, TB test and background check. Must have current COVID-19 vaccination record or qualified exemption prior to hire.
