CITY OF LAREDO is Hiring a Business Development Administrator, (A247510-2), 212, Administration Near Laredo, TX
To perform professional level work in the development and implementation of programs and projects that promote economic development, job growth, and revitalization. This position is the liaison between businesses and City staff to ensure commercial and industrial developments are processed in a timely, efficient and client-centered matter. Coordinates internal activities of the various City departments in order to establish and maintain effective lines of communication. Develops and implements processes related to business development support that assist in accomplishing the City's Comprehensive Plan initiatives that relate to Economic Development.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. With the support of Downtown Redevelopment Coordinator and the Business Development Coordinator, the Business Development Administrator serves as the business contact and liaison between city staff and customers, providing assistance, coordinating efforts with other City of Laredo departments to ensure commercial developments and permits are processed in a timely, efficient and client centered manner.
Coordinates, reviews and establishes the proper lines of communication on development plan issues in order to more accurately disseminate, coordinate, review and provide information with respect to the appropriate city development requirements.
Coordinates small business workshops and facilitates communication with internal departments in the monitoring of projects.
Plans, organizes, and manages workshops and community outreach initiatives.
Assist the Director in the planning, coordination and implementation of programs and services of the Economic Development Department.
Conducts economic impact analysis and assist in the development of incentive agreements.
Assists in negotiating agreements and represents the department in target related industry meetings, trade shows, presentations and negotiations.
Prepares prospect proposals and updates demographic and site information.
Participates in the development of the department’s annual budget.
Works on special projects including marketing, business retention, workforce development, and implementation of the Viva Laredo Comprehensive plan by working with local industry associations, consultants, and government entities at the local, state and federal level.
Assist the Director in other administrative duties as assigned, including performing duties to ensure the continuity of operations, including providing support to the Grants division.
Must posses compliance on current incentive agreements, gives staff access to finances and payroll data that requires discretion.
Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
Performs related work as required.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Finance, or related field
At least three (3) years of experience in economic and business development, marketing, international business, or finance

Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
