    DESCRIPTION

The Position

Luscher Farm Camp Instructors will be responsible for supervising up to 12 camp participants, ages 4-12, in a full-day outdoor camp setting. Instructors are responsible for implementing specific weekly themed camp curriculum through positive communication. Instructors must be accountable, reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic with a passion for outdoor education, recreation, and youth enrichment. Additionally, instructors are responsible for the safety and wellness of youth participants, managing with inclusivity, patience, and cooperation.
Applicants with a background or knowledge of organic agriculture, gardening, curriculum planning, cooking and/or experience working with youth are strongly encouraged to apply.
HOURS AND SCHEDULE: Summer camp season runs June 24th- August 23rd with additional part-time hours possible year-round. Typical work days are Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, totaling 37-40 hours per week for nine weeks. There will be a mandatory Staff Training on Monday, June 17th.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise participants and encourage positive decision making
  • Implement a variety of scheduled activities in a group setting such as cooking, crafts, nature walks and garden-themed lessons
  • Establish positive working relationships with participants, parents, and co-workers
  • Implement disciplinary and safety measures when necessary
  • Assist with clean up and setup of activities
  • Escort camp participants to the restroom (bathroom breaks, hand washing, etc.)
  • Help keep accurate attendance records, accident/incident reports, and waivers

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Instructors should be enthusiastic and have strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Must have experience working with elementary aged children, preferably in a day-camp setting
  • Have knowledge of age-appropriate children's activities and skills which could include arts and crafts, cooking, storytelling, singing, STEAM, outdoor recreation and/or other recreational activities related to weekly camp themes
  • Ability to follow through on directions independently
  • Must be available for most weeks of the 9-week program
  • CPR/First Aid certified or completion upon hiring
