ESSENTIAL DUIES SUMMARY
The City of Kirksville is seeking a City Planner to join our staff dedicated to carrying out planning and revitalization activities for the city's neighborhoods and business districts. The focus will be on providing technical support, data research/analysis and plan development for established and new neighborhoods throughout the City.
Provides technical and professional advice; makes presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public. Provides information on land use applications, ordinances, codes, plans and related planning programs, services or regulations to architects, engineers, developers, contractors, owners, community groups and interested persons.
Reviews development and related land use permit applications, site plans, variance applications, etc.; examines applications for compliance with established plans and ordinances, and applicable local, state or Federal regulation; solicits input from appropriate staff, schedules hearings and actions, monitors through the approval process, enforces compliance with regulations; prepares reports and related data as required.
Evaluates environmental information and recommends mitigation measures to reduce adverse impacts of development.

REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in land-use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture or a closely related field, and three years’ experience in municipal planning or related activity, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
· Salary Range: $54,830 - 70,975 annually.
· (Starting salary is typically at the beginning of the range depending on individual qualifications and budget authorization).
