The City of Kennedale, Texas (pop. 9,800) is seeking a Public Works Technician dedicated to providing a wide variety of services in the maintenance and repair of city streets, drainage system, parks, city facilities and city rights-of-way. This includes performing manual labor activities such as shoveling, raking, directing traffic, pothole repairs, crack sealing, and other general repair of city streets. Other assignment/tasks include: mowing, debris removal, inspection and maintenance of playground equipment, drainage ditches and other related maintenance issues. This position is responsible for the operation of a variety of equipment, such as: dump trucks, flat beds, mowers, tractors, asphalt rollers, crack seal machines and all other construction and maintenance related equipment. Public Works staff are required to participate in the On Call after hours rotation and must be available for call back as needed for emergency situations.

Minimum Education & Experience Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six months experience in construction trades including work with concrete and asphalt plus a variety of equipment, Class B CDL Texas driver’s license is preferred. The job involves outdoor work, including temperature extremes and heavy lifting. Applicants must have the ability to lift (75 lbs.), push, pull, stand for long periods of time; squat, kneel, reach, and operate equipment necessary for duties listed above. A post offer drug screen and background check will be required.

Rate of Pay $20.60 an hour
