City of Jacksonville is Hiring a Seasonal - Cecil Aquatics - Pool Lifeguard Near Jacksonville, FL

Under general supervision, the lifeguard has the responsibilities of maintaining order by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons. Lifeguards are also responsible for monitoring for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid to patrons, public relations, and all other duties as necessary or required. This position requires weekend and holiday work. 
The hourly rate for this position is:

  • New Pool Lifeguards: $15.00
  • Returning Pool Lifeguards: $15.50
Program start date: 5/18/24Program end date: 9/6/24 
  • Provides general assistance, information and instruction to the public regarding safety issues; receives, responds to and/or resolves questions, inquiries and complaints from the public; if warranted, refers requests and complaints to management; provides guidance, warnings and announcements for the public’s benefit and information; administers basic first aid for minor injuries.
  • Verifies that all necessary precautions are observed to insure the health, safety, and welfare of patrons.
  • Enforces the rules and regulations and adhere to the policies in controlling the behavior of patrons.
  • Documents and reports all problems and accidents to Management.
  • Cleans, services and general up keep with facilities, grounds and equipment.
  • Applicants must be 15 years of age upon hire.
  • Applicants must successfully pass a City background screening and drug test provided by the City.
  • Must be able to swim 300 yards non-stop using only the free or breast stroke; be able to tread water without using hands for two (2) minutes; be able to retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 10 feet.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
  • Candidates must obtain Lifeguard Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification. Training will be provided by the City of Jacksonville once selected.
