The Customer Support Specialist I position provides superior customer service, starts new service, and performs work involving account scheduling and reconciliation, work-paper preparation, cash and check receipting and proofing, customer billing, deposit verification, origination and preparation of customer and department correspondence, and other tasks related to the department. This position is under the supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 6 college credit hours in introductory and/or intermediate accounting.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an office environments with experience handling large sums of cash and checks, and a minimum of 1 year of experience in computer data input. Experience communicating via phone calls, emails, and talking to the public face to face is a must. Experience in customer service, billing, collection, complaint resolution, and keyboard skills. Ability to be professional under stressful circumstances.
License & Certification: Must have a valid vehicle operator’s license and satisfactory driving records in accordance with City policy.
Essential Functions: Replies to inquiries for tax/parking/utility information in both oral and written forms of communication as required; Responsible for and/or assists with preparation, distribution, and filing of tax bills, special assessment billings, delinquent notices, utility bulk mailings, parking fees, and other billing fees, prepares check requests as needed.
