One year of experience in public recreation, security, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Park ranger, sworn law enforcement, or military experience is preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Knowledge of: Parks and Recreation department policies and regulations City ordinances and state statutes for park use Park safety practices Patrol and security procedures and practices
Ability to: Handle encounters with hostile or irate individuals Conduct equipment or facility checks; identify hazardous or unsafe conditions or behaviors Understand and follow safe working practices Effectively communicate verbally and in writing Keep accurate records; prepare accurate and timely reports Perform basic life support and basic first aid procedures Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the public
Special Requirements Basic life support (CPR) and first aid certification. This position requires availability to work any day of the week to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy.
