JOB SUMMARYWorking in the Human Resource Department, this position will provide full time support to the HR Director exercising the highest degree of confidentiality, professional discretion, and excellent organizational skills in support of the efficient operations of the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, honesty, compassion and empathy while serving as an ombudsman, hostess, and confidant. City employees are required to serve citizens in a tactful, courteous manner at all times.COMPENSATION: Starting Salary $50,000 - $58,000 plus benefits after 90 days. A flexible work week Monday-Thursday, with flexible Friday. This is a FULL TIME hourly, non-union position at 40 hours per week. The City offers a generous benefit package; paid vacation, sick and holiday; short-term disability & life insurance; pension plan.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years in an executive secretary/administrative position required; AND an associate’s degree OR 60 hours of college credit in business related courses, preferred; or equivalent, demonstrated experience & content knowledge;
Experience in public sector, municipality, or union work environment, preferred;
Excellent computer skills, Microsoft 365, adept with software programs;
Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and general hiring practices, required;
Possess a high degree of professionalism; excellent communication & organizational skills; able to manage sensitive/confidential situations with tact/diplomacy;
Strong project management skills & able to work independently to meet deadlines;
Must be able to pass a civil service test and oral board exam with 70% or better;
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, including drug screen, and background check.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide executive secretarial support to the Director and the Department in managing daily communications, recruitment & on-boarding, employee data base, personnel files, record keeping; FMLA/ADA requests, grievances, negotiations, employee events; job fairs; serve as representative of Director to applicants & employees; assist in creation of visual aids for presentations/marketing; contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
