This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Anticipated dates of employment are from May through August. Work schedule will be weekdays, vary depending on camp location, and be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., approximately 20 to 40 hours per week (no camp no July 1st through July 5th). Total hours worked not to exceed 1,500 annually.
Essential Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

• Assist in planning and preparing activities in an outdoor setting, such as art, music, sports, games, and field trips
• Assist the director with the implementation of camp activities and record keeping
• Assist with personal hygiene as needed
• Actively participate with children during day camp activities, including swimming and on field trips

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

• Ability to be an excellent role model and a good problem solver
• Energetic and positive attitude

• Experience working in a day camp setting

• Six months or more experience and/or education related to working with individuals with disabilities

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend and lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
