City of Carrollton, GA is Hiring a Police Officer Near Carrollton, GA

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under general supervision, performs specialized/protective functions associated with protection of life and property, enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, response to emergency situations, and duties within an assigned division or specialty which may include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics Investigations, Warrants, Booking, Administration, or other area. (Duties listed are considered to be normal for this position and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.)

MINIMUM TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED equivalent required (Associate’s degree or 60 semester hours in Criminal Justice or related area preferred); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain valid P.O.S.T. certification. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Must possess and maintain valid Firearms License, and must be qualified to operate a firearm. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Assignment as Booking Officer requires possession and maintenance of Identification Technician Certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be physically able to operate a variety of law enforcement equipment and office equipment, such as a patrol vehicle, standard/emergency vehicles, firearms, chemical weapons, emergency equipment, radio/communications equipment, radar/laser equipment, alcohol testing equipment, drug testing kits, processing kits, handcuffs, restraining devices, baton, flashlight, gas mask, photographic equipment, tape recorder, audio surveillance equipment, microfilm equipment, copy machine, typewriter, or telephone. Must be physically able to operate a firearm and motor vehicle. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at the levels of those for physically active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry a weight of one hundred pounds.

Pay: $50,650.00 per year
