City of Brownsville, TX is Hiring a 241 - Senior Network Engineer Near Brownsville, TX

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Network Engineer will manage the Network team to conduct technical tasks, network monitoring and control, technical support including troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues for all systems in the network. In this role, the Engineer will configure and install networking hardware/software replacements and upgrades minimize downtime, mentor network administrators and other reporting as required. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will work with other team engineers to develop programmatic actions and minimize security risks.

KEY FUNCTIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Monitors and controls the performance and status of network resources across multiple enclaves utilizing software and hardware tools.
  • Develops and maintains all networking documentation (drawings, cut sheets, configurations, and deployment plans).
  • Works with City of Brownsville Departments/Employees and other engineers and administrators in support the City networking related projects.
  • Identifies and diagnoses problems and factors affecting network performance.
  • Provides day-to-day subject matter expert support for City of Brownsville enterprise.
  • Troubleshoots networking issues and outages, which may occur during non- core hours.
  • Works with vendors in support of the City of Brownsville networking issues as required.
  • Ensures all networking applicable vulnerabilities are resolved or mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Performs preventative maintenance services on all devices within the networking area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in data center as well as service provider.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Technology, Information Management, or Cyber Security.

Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in computer system or network engineering.

3 years’ experience installing and configuring CISCO Switches (i.e., Series 2900, 3700, 3800, 3900, 4500, 6500. Catalyst 9000 Series Preferred).

3 years’ experience in installing and configuring CISCO routers (i.e., ASR 1000 and ISR 4000 series).

3 years’ experience installing and configuring CISCO firewalls (i.e., ASA 5500 Series).

Prior experience with modern data center technologies, such as Cisco VPC, Cisco VDC, and VRF Lite.

Must have experience with Cisco routers, Catalysts switches and Call Manager.

Proficient in Microsoft Visio and Word.

Special Certifications and License

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Cisco Certified Network Professional.

Microsoft dynamics 365.

Mostly moderate and fairly steady active physical exertion; may require brief periods of heavy muscular exertion, such as standing, lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, etc. up to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.

Responsibility for Equipment and Property

Responsible for use of equipment/property such as office equipment,supplies,etc.,whichareusedinoffice; use of City vehicle.
