Essential (primary)
Patrols designated parking areas, including parking lot(s), metered areas, and limited parking and neighborhood zone areas. When required, prepares and issues citations (according to Title 15 in city code)
Assists in training new officers, perform crossing guard's duties and assist in special event set up.
Collect monies from parking meters and/or perform daily meter maintenance. Must be able to record maintenance and update information in meter software system.
Take all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment.
Determines when it is necessary to contact Bloomington Police Department and effectively relays information when requesting assistance or reporting and incident/accident.
Non-Essential (secondary)
Serves as crossing guard when necessary.
Help move and place water-filled jersey barriers to provide public safety at on-street special events
During inclement weather, incumbents may be requested to perform a number of tasks including office clerical duties.
Two years of customer service experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Ability to apply local Title 15 parking ordinance to specific cases and situations, and ability to explain various ordinances to the general public.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment.
Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
Maintains daily contact with supervisors.
