Must be at least 18 years of age. Position runs from mid-May through early August (can be later than early August if desired). Summer Mobile Recreation Lead Intern/Coordinator will work with Parks and Recreation staff to design, coordinate, and facilitate a program called Rec2U, which offers free activities and programming at a variety of parks in the Billings area targeting underserved youth. For those interested in the internship, it is an excellent opportunity for a student who desires hands-on experience working with youth through a variety of recreational activities ranging from arts & crafts to sports and yard games, and anything in between. In addition, this opportunity allows said Intern/coordinator the freedom to design and implement their own ideas and programs as they see fit. The incumbent will work directly under the Recreation Specialists to assist in developing and overseeing all aspects of Rec2U programming. This includes but is not limited to leading, organizing, and supervising youth activities, acting as a positive role model for participants, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all youth, and collaborating with other staff to plan and execute activities of Rec2U. The Mobile Recreation Lead Intern/Coordinator will be responsible for directing and managing 2-5 additional staff to assist in the implementation of the Rec2U program across the city’s’ parks.
