Field Technician

BUSINESS UNIT: ConstructEDGE

FUNCTION: Professional Services

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

LOCATION: Cedar Rapids, IA - this role will be 50% domestic travel

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or Years of Experience

EXPERIENCE: 3 years’ experience in Field Service

This role will be responsible for all outdoor and remote installations of equipment on client sites, decommissions as well as escalation support. Installation will include network equipment and supporting hardware such as low voltage & data cabling, Microwave radios, solar power kits and audio-visual equipment.

What You’ll Accomplish and Experience

  • Provide outdoor & indoor installations throughout the U.S
  • Install and test network equipment (wireless access points, routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances)
  • Support equipment such as roof mounts, solar panels and outdoor rated enclosures
  • Ability to work with Low Voltage, Data Cabling, and have a base level of electrical understanding (grounding, safety)
  • Install, test and troubleshoot audio-visual and network infrastructure
  • Provide support for escalated client incident requests via remote support and/or on site
  • Create and maintain end user documentation, knowledge base, and recurring communications to client stakeholders by working within project management systems and documentation software
  • Collaborates with clients Information Technology department, field operations teams and third-party vendors as needed
  • Follow industry standard for OSHA regulations and safety requirements per client’s request
  • Ability to pivot during a project and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Act as a liaison for internal and external clients regarding project progress or updates

Desirable Previous Experience

  • Strong understanding of wireless access points, routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical knowledge (i.e. grounding, safety)
  • Understanding of Low Voltage and Data Cabling
  • Demonstrated ability with audio-visual installations and testing
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure and troubleshooting (Firewalls, DHCP, DNS, NTP, LDAP, SSL, VPN, etc)
  • Strong operational experience with DNS, TCP/IP including IP Addressing and sub-netting, network connectivity, LAN and WAN architectures, etc
  • Strong understanding of supporting equipment such as roof mounts, solar panels and outdoor rated enclosures
  • OSHA Certification or experience preferred
  • Ability to pivot quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with a client support focus
  • Ability to travel offsite to client locations approximately 50% of the time
