General Position Description:

The Choir Director will join our passionate, high-energy, flexible, faithful, and fun staff team as part of our growing congregation to sustain and grow our choir and music ministry. The Choir Director serves the church by closely collaborating with the Director of Worship & Music (DWM) and CLC Leadership to plan choir music, plan and lead rehearsals, and direct the choir(s) for worship during choir season - typically September through May.

• Possess an appreciation for, and experience with, traditional and contemporary choral and worship music
• Pass a background check
• Education, training, and experience in music and/or teaching

• Bachelor's degree in music or teaching
• Minimum of 2 years experience in directing and leading a choir
• Knowledge of ELCA Lutheran liturgies, faith, and order of worship

Specific Responsibilities:

• Choir Director will take primary direction from DWM in support of the overall spiritual vision of the Pastor(s) of CLC
• Seek out and recruit choir members from CLC Congregation with the support and direction of the DWM.
• Conduct weekly Worship Choir rehearsals during choir season, September through May, to prepare for weekly worship services as well as additional festivals and events, ensuring choir performers are adequately prepared for participation in worship.
• Work closely with DWM to build understanding of the selection of music appropriate to the liturgical season.
• If a scheduled rehearsal is to be canceled, Choir Director must give 24 hours notice to all involved when possible.
• Coordinate with volunteer and paid directors of additional choirs (i.e. Children's, Angel, Chime) and ensure proper rehearsal of those choirs when they are required to perform

Specific Position Information:

• Part-time position - this position is part-time; less than 40 hours per week. Total expected number of hours negotiated as part of an employment offer.
• Benefits- may include paid time off (PTO), retirement, and health. No benefits are guaranteed for part-time positions, and will be negotiated as part of an employment offer.
• Salary - salary is commensurate with experience and aligned with CLC's annual budget, and will be negotiated as part of an employment offer. Expected pay range is $6,000-$7,500 per year.
• Pay Increases - there will be an annual performance evaluation process with the possibility of a pay increase which will depend on performance and CLC's annual budget.
• References - Applicants are to provide at least three references (2 of which should be professional references). The Church Council, or appointed hiring committee, will contact all references provided prior to an offer of employment.

Our program seeks to supplement, support, and enhance the worship of the congregation; to nurture and develop the musical talents and gifts of the congregation; and to include as many and diverse voices and gifts as we can.
