Qualifications:
* Must possess a valid driver's license (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Minnesota Fleet Safety Management policy). * Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS). * Must be able to prepare verbal and written reports. * Good verbal, writing and computer skills required. * Must complete and pass use of force training within 30 days of hire. * Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire. * Must be able to wear respiratory protection (N-95 respirator, full face respirator and PAPR), be fit tested and able to pass respirator physical. Education: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred. Experience: * Prior experience responding and intervening in emergency situations such as crisis de-escalation, intervention, detainment of suspects, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing organizational policy preferred. * Prior Law Enforcement or security experience preferred. * Emergency Operations Center experience preferred. * Healthcare knowledge/experience preferred. License/Certification Preferences: * POST skills completed, International Association of Hospital Safety and Security (Basic), First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or OSHA first responder certifications preferred. * Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a plus. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must. * Ability to work independently and as a team. * Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing. * Ability to retain knowledge, information, and directions on an ongoing basis and communicate effectively with others. * Ability to comprehend numerous policies, procedures, concepts and to be able to make decisions using discretion and interpretive judgment based on general and specific policies. * Ability to maintain accurate records. * Must be customer service oriented. * Knowledge of verbal and physical de-escalation, use of force continuum and arrest laws preferred. * Ability to walk and climb stairs. * Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time. * Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions. * Ability to see and hear accurately in both day and nighttime conditions. * Skill in operating portable radio devices. * Ability to detect irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations. * Effectively contacts and interacts with emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel as required. * Ability to restrain or subdue an individual. * Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
