Children's Home Society is currently seeking summer interns to work as part of a team providing supervision and care of children.

What You'll Do:

Your responsibilities as a Bachelor Level Intern would include:

• Nurture children through one-on-one communication and care.
• Maintain vigilant supervision of children.
• Facilitate structured programs, i.e., games, outdoor recreation, etc., if applicable.
• Assist children with hygiene, diet, getting ready for school, etc.
• Document required hand off communication.
• Complete weekly logs on assigned children.
• Complete behavioral/restraint/incident reports before leaving shift.
• Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.
• Monitor and supervise phone calls and visits as set by child’s therapist.

Schedule:

This is a summer semester internship. Hours are typically scheduled days, evenings and/or weekends (Saturday & Sunday shifts 8am-10pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2pm-10pm & Wednesdays from 12pm-10pm) We will work with you to set a schedule that works with your schedule.

Compensation: $20.00/hour up to a $2/hour shift differential

Requirements

Experience/Education/Skills:

High School Diploma or GED required; working towards a bachelor's degree. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Residential environment focused on care of children with behavioral issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
